Introduction

Quiz Screen is a privacy-first app blocker that helps you manage screen time by requiring you to complete educational quizzes before accessing selected apps. We believe in local data storage and minimal data collection to protect your privacy while providing effective screen time management.

How Quiz Screen Works

Quiz Screen integrates with iOS Screen Time to block apps you choose, then requires you to:

  • • Select apps to block using iOS Family Controls framework
  • • Create custom quiz topics with subjects, subtopics, and difficulty levels
  • • Complete quizzes to temporarily unlock blocked apps
  • • Track your progress with streaks, achievements, and statistics

Data We Store Locally

All your data is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. No personal information leaves your phone unless you specifically choose to generate quiz questions. Here's what we store locally:

  • App blocking preferences (which apps you've chosen to block)
  • Quiz configurations (your custom quiz topics, subjects, and difficulty settings)
  • Usage statistics (quiz completion streaks, total questions answered, achievement progress)
  • Quiz session history (when you completed quizzes, which apps were unlocked)
  • Unlock duration settings (how long apps stay unlocked after completing a quiz)

Important: All this data is stored in your device's local storage. Deleting the app or clearing your device's cache will permanently remove all this data.

Quiz Question Generation

OpenRouter API Usage

When you request quiz questions, we send only your quiz topic preferences (subject, subtopic, difficulty level) to OpenRouter's AI service to generate relevant questions. We do not send any personal information, app usage data, or identifying information.

The generated questions are displayed to you immediately and not stored permanently. Each time you take a quiz, new questions are generated.

What We DON'T Collect

Quiz Screen does NOT collect, store, or transmit:

  • • Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number)
  • • Your actual app usage data (time spent in apps, app content)
  • • Device information (device ID, location, contacts)
  • • Quiz answers or performance data to external servers
  • • Screen Time data beyond what's needed for app blocking
  • • Analytics or tracking data to third parties

iOS Screen Time Integration

Quiz Screen uses iOS Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks solely to:

  • Block selected apps when you choose to activate blocking
  • Temporarily unblock apps after you complete a quiz successfully
  • Re-block apps after your chosen unlock duration expires

We only access the minimum information required to provide app blocking functionality. Your Screen Time data remains on your device and under your control.

Data Deletion

Complete Data Control

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it:

  • • Delete the app to permanently remove all Quiz Screen data
  • • Clear your device's storage/cache to reset all settings and statistics
  • • No server-side data exists that needs to be deleted
  • • No account deletion process needed - there are no accounts!

Third-Party Services

Quiz Screen only uses one external service:

OpenRouter (AI Question Generation)

When generating quiz questions, we send only your quiz preferences (topic, difficulty) to OpenRouter's AI service. No personal data or app usage information is shared. You can review OpenRouter's privacy policy at their website for more details about their data handling.
